For the Birds - DIY Necklace Tutorial

I first made one of these necklaces around this time last year for one of my best friends' birthday. She loved it (yay!) and still wears it (even better!). I posted a quick picture of it on my Facebook and so many people commented asking me to make them one too. So, a little over a year later, here is a DIY step by step. P.S. it's really easy...

Step 1: Tools you'll need : Ring, thin wire, beads, chain or an old chain necklace.

Step 2: Slide all 3 beads on to wire
Step 3: Stick the end of the wire into the hole of the first bead to make a loop...this will make it stay put.
Step 4: Continue to wrap wire around the beads as many times until the nest is as big as you want it.
Like so....
Step 5: Once nest is the right size, wrap the extra wire around the nest 3 times to keep it's shape.
Repeat step 5 in 3 to 4 places on the nest.  This also helps support the beads from the back (as shown).
Step 6: Cut the extra wire and wrap that piece around the wires in the back of the nest. This can be as messy as you like
(its's a nest after all)
Step 7: Open ring and loop it anywhere on the nest
Step 8: Put it on a necklace and wear!
Another one I made for myself in brown :)

Enjoy!
